Approach - Lorient has two entry channels: The Passe de l'Ouest and the Passe de Sud. Both are well bouyed and easy to follow.

General - Lorient lies halfway along the Brittany's south coast, the entrance is opposite the Ile de Groix.

Shopping - Good shopping in several localities throughout the town

Eating Out - La Guimbarde is a good bistro in Lorient. La Belle Vue in Port Louis is good for dinner.

Local Area - Lorient was a crucial German U boat base in the second world war and they can be viewed via a guided tour. There is a museum in the Port Louis Citadel devoted to the history of the French East India Company
