General - Marina del Este or Puerto Deportivo Punta de la Mona is located at Almunecar, on the the Mediterranean coast of Andalucia in southern Spain. The facility offers berths, boatyard and a storage operation. Purpose built marina set amongst a huge housing development in a beautiful area. Marina charges are high in the summer months.

Protection/Shelter - Wind from NE - E produces a limited amount of swell within the marina.

Approach and Entrance - From the W To enter the marina

From the West - Punta de Mona, Punta de Cerro Gordo and Nerja are all easily identifiable. The marina lies just around the corner.
From the East -From the E the coast becomes hilly after passing the delta of the Rio Guadalfeo. The town of Almunecar marks the start of the Ensenada de los Berengueles and the marina lies on the W side of the bay.
Entrance -approach the northern end of the outer breakwater keeping 400m of the coast to avoid the rocks. When the head of the breakwater bears W approach and round it leaving to 25m to port. Secure to the fuel berth to starboard and ask for a berth at the control tower.

Berths & Moorings - 227 berths. It is not known if reservations are required.

Sightseeing - There are prehistoric caves to be seen at Nerja. The city of Granada and the famous Alhambra can be seen in a days trip. As can the Alpahurras valley, with it's charming villages, towered over by the magnificent Sierra Nevada.
