From the West - Tarifa light will be seen from a distance. Caution is needed when passing Bajo de los Cabezos, 3 miles south of Punta Paloma and 5 miles to the W of Tarifa itself. This bank is marked by broken water even in calm weather.
From the East - When passing through the Straits keep at least 1 mile off between Punta Carnero and Punta de Cal Arenas after which it is safe to close the coast.
Entrance - The harbour entrance faces south and is just to the east of the Isla Tarifa on which stands Tarifa light

Berths & Moorings - The harbour is used by the fishing fleet. There are no provisions or yachts and the harbour should only be used as a place of refuge. If the need arises yachts must take pot luck amongst the fishing fleet. Keep of the RoRo ferry berth on the inside of the southern breakwater. It may be possible to anchor either side of the causeway linking Isla Tarifa to the mainland. Holding is thought to be good over sand.
