General - Puerto de la Selva is a yachting and fishing harbour lying on the Costa Brava on the NE coast of Spain. The approach and entrance are easy. There is little shelter from the NW Tramontana wind.

Position - 42º 20' N 3º 12' E

Approach & Entrance;
From the south - Round Cabo Creus with its lighthouse, two towers and off lying island. The wide bay at La Selva is easily identified and the harbour will be found on its E side when Punta de la Creu has been rounded..
From the north - From Cap Bear in France with its conspicuous lighthouse, fort radio and signal station the coast is high and rugged. Pass Punta de la Sernella with its lighthouse. Puerto de Selva will be found on the E side of Bahia de Selva
To enter - Approach the centre of the bay on a S course. When the head of the breakwater is abeam turn onto an E course and enter leaving the head, which has foul ground around it, at least 50m to port.

Berths - Secure stern to the breakwater using a bow anchor or pick up a mooring buoy if one is available.

Local Area - Swimming pool at the Club Nautico de Puerto de la Selva. The town and area around are attractive. There are Neolithic, Greek and Roman remains that can be seen in the area. The monastery of Sant Pere de Roda and Sant Salvado castle on the Sierra de Roses are both worth a visit for the spectacular views alone..
