Approach & Entrance - From the SW the lighthouse on Punta Sabinal is conspicuous. There is an old disused lighthouse and castle just to the south of the harbour. From the NE cliffs reach within 4 miles of the harbour. The buildings and blocks of flats that surround the harbour can be seen. To enter head for the northern end of the outer breakwater, round this leaving it to port and enter between the two breakwaters. The Club Nautico is immediately to starboard. General - Small fishing harbour. Strong winds from the SE - NE make the harbour uncomfortable.
Water & Electric - On the pontoons.
Security - Good within the Club Nautico.
Wi-Fi Internet - No. Internet access can be found at some places within the town.
Facilities & Services - 50 tonne travel lift. 8 tonne crane. Repair facilities. I understand the boatyard allow owners to work on their own boats while lifted out.
Eating Out - Bar and restaurant at the Club Nautico. Several decent fish restaurants on the road running past the harbour and more restaurants in the town.
Local Area - Good beaches on either side of the harbour. This part of the coast is covered with plastic greenhouses, it has to be seen to be appreciated both for the vast number of acres under cover and it's ugliness. Almeria is only 30 minutes away by road and the Alcazaba, a Moorish castle is well worth a visit. The city of Granada and the famous Alhambra can be seen in a days trip. As can the Alpujarras valley, with it's charming villages, towered over by the magnificent Sierra Nevada.
