General - Stromness Marina is set at the head of the main harbour which is the principal ferry port connecting the Orkney Islands to mainland Scotland.

Approach & Entrance - Stromness Marina can be approached from the W through Hoy Mouth or from the SE through Hoy Sound. Make for a waypoint, position 58º 57.07' N 3º 17' W. Then steer 317ºT to the harbour mouth where the channel is then marked by port and starboard hand bouys. Once through them head for Stromness Marina which is just to the north of the RoRo ferry terminal.

Local Area - World Heritage Sites at Skara Brae, a 5,000 year old Neolithic village, and Maes Howe, a Neolithic chambered tomb. The Stromness Museum with displays featuring fishing, Arctic whaling, the Hudson Bay Company and the German Fleet in Scapa Flow
