The village is within then township of Georgian Bay, an area municipality of the Muskoka District Municipality, in south-central Ontario. It is located on the Severn River, where it empties into Georgian Bay. Honey Harbour serves as launching point to the "30,000 Islands" that make up the geography of Georgian Bay.
