Approach and Entrance - From the Pacific Ocean head for the Umqpua River, twenty miles north of the Cape Arago Light. The Umpqua Light's red and white rotating lantern pokes above the trees on a hillside just south of the entrance to the river. A short way up river is Salmon Harbor. Projected depth in the entrance channel is 26 feet but shoals and breakers are present along the north jetty.
